Get to know Savannah…

Q. When you're not working, what do you love to do in your free time?
A. I love camping, B-movies (and good movies, don’t get me wrong 😉), nature, art, and animals, among a handful of other things, so I enjoy doing things that revolve around those. My husband and I aren’t native Angelenos, so we definitely just enjoy exploring our world here in Southern California. There’s always so much to do!

Q. What brought you to Southern California?
A. I’m from Florida originally, and that was where I started my career back in 2015. My boyfriend at the time — now husband — had just graduated college in 2019, and I had always wanted to leave Florida, so we decided on LA. We packed up our car with everything it would fit and drove across the country to our new home. We didn’t have an apartment picked or jobs set up and it was the scariest thing I’ve ever done, but I’m SO grateful we went for it! We love it here.

Q. Where are your favorite locations or venues to work?
A. Favorite venue hands down is The Paramour Estate in Silver Lake. Totally where I would have gotten married if I hadn’t gone to Vegas! Other favorites are random Airbnbs in Joshua Tree for elopements and the Houdini Estate.

Q. What is a current beauty trend you fully stand behind?
A. Sheer/light coverage makeup. Perfecting any redness or breakouts, but letting the world see your freckles and your actual skin!

Q. Please tell us more about your art.
A. There are two parts of me that drive my work hugely: I have an art background, and there are few things I love more than person-to-person connection. Both of my parents are artists, and my husband is an artist. I love art. Specifically, I love color theory and finding harmony and making intentional, bold choices; I love thoughtful subtleties and beautiful juxtapositions of textures; and I love the mimicry of what’s naturally occurring in the world. On a face (or in hair), all of that becomes macro. I love the detail of it all and, to bring it back to the people part, I love the collaboration. I love bringing my judgement and experience to your vision of what you think is beautiful, and (no pun intended) marrying the two. Getting to know you and your particularities as an individual, and then helping your unique vision come to life brings me deep satisfaction — like an artist sitting back, content, after completing a piece.

Q. What is your favorite part of a wedding day?
A. It’s usually the only part I’m involved in so I’m definitely biased, but I love the whole “getting ready” portion of the day. I got married myself in March of 2022, and though we did things very nontraditionally and our ceremony was brief (we got married by Elvis at the Little White Chapel!), I really wanted to do the “getting ready” part, since I was so familiar with it. It was such a perfect start to everything, getting ready with my small group, and it totally set the tone for the whole day. My hair and makeup made me feel absolutely the most beautiful I’ve ever felt, and it was just so wonderful talking and joking with my friends (who happened to be my photog, photog’s assistant, and hair/makeup artist, so friend/vendors… friendors?) and Fiancé until he went to go get ready himself. Being on the other end after years of being on the vendor side — hopefully bridging over into what feels like a friend ☺️ — just made me love that time even more. I feel so lucky to get to be a part of that intimate, wonderful time for so many brides.
